Croatia: Be There In a SPLIT (Croatia) Second

The trip of the summer has begun, and I think a blog post is long overdue, so without further ado...come with me to Split, Croatia!

We arrived in Croatia two days before our yacht set sail, so here I am, in Europe with my brain itching to write. It's scary for some; endless amount of words at their fingertips and an imagination that never stops running. For me, however, it's a dream.

This morning started bright and early since we did a speedboat tour that took us from Split to Trogir, and then back to Split where our hotel was. The tour's first stop was the outskirts of Trogir, where we saw an old castle and got gelato before heading back to the boat. The next stop was Blue Lagoon. The only drawback for me was that the only way to the water was a rocky slope. There were also a fair amount of sea urchins once we got in, but that was what the water shoes were for. You could get a mask and snorkel, but we couldn't really see anything besides dirt, rocks, and sea urchins. After a quick dry, we were back on the boat, headed for an abandoned ship-wreck.

The ship-wreck was pretty cool. The story goes that back in the 1900s, there was a storm so bad that the ship wrecked, but the captain survived. Not a Titanic, story, I know, but it was interesting, nonetheless. We got back to the boat, and the crew allowed us to jump off the roof. That was my favorite part of that particular stop.

After the tour ended and we left the boat, we ate lunch at a small tourist spot called Terminal F. The three of us split a pizza and nachos, which was plenty. Afterward, we came back to the hotel for a few hours and took a nap. Jet lag is insane. Europe is six hours ahead of South Carolina, so when we got up at 6:45 this morning, it was really on 12:45 back home. We went to dinner at a nearby mall restaurant around 5:30. Chinese food is surprisingly similar to American Chinese food. The drinks, however are a different story. If you know me personally, you will know that I most likely always have a Gatorade at hand. I was disappointed to know that they do not have it in Europe. The Fanta tastes strange, but I can't exactly tell why. Even the water tastes different. I suppose it has to due with European health standards, so I can't complain. I mean, it's Croatia, how could it not be perfect?

So that brings you up to speed. We're in the hotel until 1 PM tomorrow, which means we board the Adriatic Queen around 1:30 PM.

Until next time, ah, how do you say goodnight here? i don't even know. Good night.
